Har ki Dun Trek

Har-Ki-Dun is in the border district of Uttarkashi lying at an altitude 3506m. Har-Ki-Dun is a green valley, located at the base of the majestic Swargarohini peak(6252m). It is also called 'The Valley of the Gods'.
According to legends, Har-Ki-Dun is the point from where the Pandawas of Mahabharata transcended to 'Heaven'. The archaeologists here found the ancient 'Bhojpatras' that was used to write manuscripts thousands of years ago. Har-Ki-Dun has a number of temples and shrines that the people of ancient days prayed in olden days. It is an ideal place for research botanists, nature lovers, trekkers and bird watchers. In Har-ki-dun valley we can explore a lot about the Garhwal mountain.
The view of the pine forest, deodar and conifer forests and other meadows from the Har-Ki-Dun is alluring. Har-Ki-Dun is an ideal place for photography lovers also. We can see the beautiful Himalayan wildlife during our trek in the valley.

Detailed Itinerary:

1st Day

Day 01: Camping in Rishikesh and Rafting

Reach rishikesh and overnight stay in camps near rishikesh. During the day rafting session will be organized accordingly.

2nd Day

Day 02: Drive Rishikesh to Sankri (275kms. Drive)

Drive 275 kms from Rishikesh to Sankri/Saur through the Yamuna and Tons Valley. Trek to a tiny market in Sankri, a few wooden huts serve simple yet delicious food. Dinner and overnight stay in the lodge.

3rd Day

Day 03: Trek/Drive Sanakri to Taluka (1900m, 10 kms.)

After Breakfast , drive or trek to Taluka (1900m) on an even surface through thick forests, with a few waterfalls on the way. Today we will have packed lunch . Dinner and overnight stay at the camping site.

4th Day

Day 04: Trek Taluka - Osla (2559m, 13 kms. Trek) 4/5 hrs.

After having breakfast today we cross the Siyan Gad by bridge, further trail climbs to Dhatmir village. Later we cross the river towards right side of Tons river. The route is dotted with tea - shops and local Dhabas. Osla has very dense forests of Walnut, Chestnut, Willows and Chinars. Enroute visit the Ghangore Vilalge & local temple. There are fairly 42 well populated village in the area of sanctuary, some are at height of 2900 mtrs. The people are living a primitive life and still in many ways depend of forest for many of their basic needs. The villagers worship the Kauravas and Duryodhana of Mahabharata is the main deity. The temples here have beautiful wood carvings.Lunch will be packed. Dinner and overnight in camps.

5th Day

Day 05: Trek Osla - Har-Ki-Dun (3506m 10 kms. Trek) 5/6 hrs.

Today after after breakfast we will continue trek to Har Ki Dun. The trail and surroundings is extremely picturesque. Little steams crosses our path. As the trail climbs gradually through lush green terraced mountain fields and spotted with varied wild flowers, it shows the beauty of Enchanting Valley. Har Ki dun has a back drop of snowy mountain peaks. Enroute we will have a wonderful view towards East of Ruinsara Gad: Kalanag peak (6387 mtrs), (Bandar punch 6316 mtrs), Swargarohini (6252 mtrs), Juandar glacier towards North and dense forests. It is one of the most picturesque spot in the Garhwal Hills. That's why it's called DEV BHOOMI (valley of Gods). Lunch will be packed. Dinner and overnight in camps.

6th Day

Day 06: Return Trek Har ki Dun to Osla (10km)

Breakfast and trek back to Osla, with packed lunch. Dinner and overnight stay at Osla.

7th Day

Day 07: Return Trek Osla to Taluka (13km).

Breakfast and trek back to Taluka, with packed lunch. Dinner and overnight stay at Taluka.

8th Day

Day 08: Return Trek or drive to Sankri(10km).

After Breakfast trek or drive back to sankri and more ahead. Dinner and overnight stay in lodge.

9th Day

Day 09: Drive Back to rishikesh (275km)

After breakfast drive Back to rishikesh (275km)
